Girls Camp 2013

I got to go to the summer camp for my church Young Women group again this year! This was by far my very favorite year! There were only seventeen other girls, including leaders and counselors (or YCLs), in my group, so we all got to be great friends, which made camp all the more enjoyable. Again, I'm just going to put up some pictures and captions, and leave you to try to imagine the rest! :)
So here's camp...

In all its spidery glory...

And here is a really blurry picture of all the campers! (I took a picture of a picture, so it turned out like this.)

We got to go swimming on the first two days, and the rest of the days were water games that morphed into water wars. :)

 Waiting for dinner

A camp delicacy is roasted starbursts. Here are step-by-step instructions for this very self-explanatory project.
Step 1: Get some starbursts.

Step 2: Skewer the starbursts with a stick that you just used to make s'mores.

Step 3: Hold them over the fire until they are hot and gooey, then eat them and try to avoid gluing your fingers together with starburst.

This is part of the challenge course. It's called the meat grinder. Our job as a group was to get all the girls from one side to the other, going over the meat grinder and making it spin. It was quite the ordeal.

Some friends got my camera while I was climbing... :)

Climbing...

This is a giant swing that starts about 43 feet up in the air and is completely man-powered (Your friends pull a rope that pulls you up in the air, where you pull a rig that disconnects you from your friends, and you free-fall, screaming your head off.) ... and probably rivals the awesomeness of Disneyland.

Fire

Chocolate pudding cone- another camp delicacy.

Buddies

On Wednesday night half of camp stayed up really late playing cards and a few other games.

We didn't have a fire that late into the night, so we tried roasting marshmallows with a lantern. It didn't work, needless to say, but the marshmallows were still tasty. :)

Some friends and I being super heroes in our towel capes after a water war.

On Thursday it rained a lot, and we eat dinner outside, on our laps, so this was a problem...
So we put our heads (in this case, our rain ponchos, actually) together and built a tent! Nice and dry!

On Thursday night we got a really good bonfire going...
And it kept going...
And then we found a huge spider (about the size of some of our hands) by the woodpile, and stopped feeding the fire logs because we didn't want the spider to get us... (In the end, one girl caught it and released it in the woods.)
And after that, the fire started to die down. Even so, we ended up staying up really late waiting for it to die, but we had fun singing and talking while we waited. :)

My computer is being funky and won't let me turn this picture right-side-up, but this is our singing refrigerator. We had it in the pavilion by camp and kept all of our food in it so that the raccoons couldn't get it. But this refrigerator was weird. It made the strangest humming noises, and it was so loud. At one point, we were singing a song, and I heard this humming in the background. For a second I thought it was someone singing the harmony, but then I realized that it was the fridge.
Weird. I know.

A friend did my hair and I wanted to see how it looked. You might notice blue streaks. We had thrown chalk-covered sponges at each other earlier that day. :)

 Me and a friend

One more camp delicacy: Mexican S'mores
That's peanut butter spread on a tortilla with chocolate chips and marshmallows dumped on top

You set it on the fire and when it melts, you enjoy!

We also raced to make a rocket stove from scratch and boil water. Neither group won, because there wasn't enough time for our water to boil. :)

Me and some friends at lunch on the last day of camp

The color for this year at camp was red, and I thought it was kind of funny that the mushrooms all over camp were also red. :)
Me and a YCL

Thanks to everyone who made this possible! :)

How I Type Comment je dactylographie

I took a typing class. I got an A. I know the rules of typing.
1. Keep your elbows to the side.
2. Keep your back straight.
3. Fingers on the home row keys.
4. Feet pointing at the computer.
5. There should be a straight line between your eyes and the top of the computer.
This is my interpretation:

:)

Once Upon A Time

So, I was walking through the house, and my little brother sneaks up behind me, grabs my leg, and drags along on the floor, asking me to "Please, please, please be my prisoner.''
I walked by where my camera was charging, and I was like, "Smile!"
Now, this is only truly funny if you have seen the movie Up, because my brother was imitating Doug when he's trying to capture the bird.
Ah, that's a good movie... :)

No Longer The PROFESSOR'S Daughter

I am now the movie star's daughter!

The one on set would be my dad being awesome... you'll notice there's three of him. :)

The Most Amazing Thing Happened The Other Day...

I did it! I got my Young Womanhood Recognition Award! This is a big award in my church, and I am so glad that I achieved it. I even met my goal of finishing before school got out! I'd like to say good luck to all my friends who are also working towards this award. It's a great experience! :)
Now I can get to work on my Honor Bee... :)
Je l'ai fait! J'ai obtenu mon jeune Recognition Award Womanhood!

The Moment We've All Been Waiting For... Le moment que nous attendions tous ...

Yes! I did remember to bring my camera to an important event in my life! Finally!
I know, it's hard to believe. :)
Anyway... I took it to my end-of-the-school-year party! Every other year I've been kicking myself for forgetting my camera, but this year I finally remembered!
This makes me happy!
So, anyway...
Oui!

Buddies!!!!!!!

Other than the random words scattered in there, I will let the pictures speak for themselves. :)

Believe it!

Weather.
It is plotting against me. I promise.
First, it was this, back in March:

I could go barefoot in shorts in snow because it was warm. Yay!!!!
Then, there was thunder and lightning every night. Yippee!!!!! (But cold.)
Then, there was wind. Yay! I love wind! (But still cold.)
Then, it was warm. Super Yippee!!!!!
And then, it started to rain Dip N' Dots! (Hail)

And that wasn't it. Oh no, we needed SNOW on May 1st and 2nd! 2 inches! And it was cold again.
Then, it began to warm up, and we were hopeful.
And now it's getting colder...
This, my friends, is the other shoe dropping. Plummeting through the floor and into the basement. I'm thinking: What's this thing about The Greenhouse Effect? Huh? I don't think so... :)

:)
