A first, (or second) encounter

At my Grandpa S and Grandma's house, we met up with 2 of my other cousins of the 24 on my dad's side, and they-kind of- introduced my sister and I to ice skating.  (The "kind of" is because my sister had never been, but I had gone with my dad when I was 2 or 3.  Needless to say, I don't remember it.)  I was surprised that I was really pretty good.  I did do a little bit of stumbling around, but in the end I was skating around freely at a good pace, and doing 360's with one foot in the air!  (I don't have any good videos of it, but I'm telling the truth!)  We liked it so much that my sister and I asked our mom to take us back the next day.

     More posts to come!

Fun at Grandma J's

Grandma J was kind enough to schedule an appointment with her hair stylist for me and  my sister, and here's my new "do."  (Sorry, the photo downloaded a little distorted.)
I also went to a roller skating place with my other 2 cousins, both around my age. We didn't skate, but they showed my siblings and I a cool arcade and some of the best obstacle course/bounce houses I have ever seen.  They also took us to a pool. Sadly, I forgot my camera for both of these activities, but they were still lots of fun!
(I also learned that I should never smile with my mouth closed.)

Number 3 at Grandma J's

This is my newest cousin, L.  He was born about three months ago and is a total sweetheart! (I'm holding him in the photo on the bottom.)  Grandma J is on my mom's side of the family, and for a long time I had two cousins, but now, make way for number 3!
PS- For those of you who may be wondering, the baby's shirt in the first two pictures says, "Don't blame me, I was born AWESOME!"  He so was!

February!

All winter we've waited in suspense for the usual downpour of snow.  All winter we've been disappointed by the mere "dustings."  Now, a month before spring is supposed to come, we get at least a foot of snow in one night!

Metal Mouth!

I went and got my braces on today!  (Click on the photo to see them better.)  Anyway, I should be able to get them off in 8-10 months.  But for now, I have a "tin grin!"
(Can you have a tin grin if it hurts to smile?)
    I also got this really cool t-shirt.  : )

What's wrong with this picture?

This is how my cute little brother carried his sled up the hill outside our cabin this winter.  Isn't it adorable?
(He is walking backwards.)

More Hair!

We were watching Chitty-chitty Bang-bang and towards the end one of the characters had a really cute hairstyle.  My sister said that it would be cool if I could do that with my hair, so this is my first attempt at it.  It turned out to be a fairly easy hair-do.  I just took some hair from the side of my head and pulled it straight up, then braided it.  I secured the braid on the other side of my head with bobby-pins, and the above photos show the result.  The hair that started the braid sort of bumped out, so I held it down with bobby-pins as well.  I think it actually looks pretty cute.

Hair!

Hi! This is me at my uncle's house, dangling my feet in the shallow end of his pool.  I figured out the secret to get my hair to wave so nicely while I was there.  You blow-dry your hair almost all the way, then braid it in pigtails for the night.  Don't tie the elastics too tight, or the hair on the end will be stiff and stick together in the morning.  I think this is a really cute way to fix your hair, and it requires almost no effort before school or work in the morning!
