Camp!

This last week I had the opportunity to spend five days 100 miles from home with only girls from my church. We had no end of fun in the 110 degree weather. But I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Okay, I've got to add a caption for this one.
This is the skit that I "directed."
I had about 1 1/2 hours total to get everyone organized, and I thought it all up. The song was made by a group of girls in our year, I think it's pretty cool. This skit celebrates 100 years of camp. I think we all did pretty good.
And no, we weren't allowed to bring our color TVs.

Now more pictures:
This is of our "counselors" (we call them Youth Camp Leaders or YCLs) showing off our level's 100 acts of service. This was also in honor of a century of camp.
Our level and YCLs. I'm on the right in braids and a red bandanna.

Me with a bunch of girls at camp.

The 5-mile hike. At one point I was sure we were going the wrong way...

The challenge course had a rock wall, a zipline, a tightrope, and a catwalk.
I was in heaven.

This is us creeking. We snacked on mulberries the whole way down the river. Thank you survival class!
This is me on the rock wall. Everyone says I made it look easy and was up extremely fast. What do you think? I'm not afraid of heights, in fact I love being up high, and I've rock climbed before, so I'm not exactly superwoman. Don't think I did this as a scared beginner.

I had a lot of fun at camp. This was an amazing experience and I made lots of great friends. Thank you to all who made this possible.

I Fly Videos

As promised, here's a video of me in the wind tunnel of "I Fly" indoor skydiving.  If you want to see my first post on "I Fly", click here.

Thank you again, Uncle M!

Switched Places

My father and I have switched places.  Now I mow the lawn and he takes the pictures.

                                                                     My dad is thrilled.
(Why do I always look short in these pictures?)

Summer!

Yesterday was my last day of school... for 3 months.  And even though I'm still at home now, on a Friday, at 8:55 a.m, just barely starting on my pancake breakfast, I still don't believe that school is over.  My year went by so fast!  (It didn't seem to go by all that fast, but it never does until you walk out of the doors for the last time.)  Have a great summer everyone!

"Slingshotting" with Grandpa

One thing my cousins and I always look forward to when at my grandparents is "sling-shotting" with Grandpa.  Here is a photo of me aiming and below some of the many slingshots my grandpa shows us how to safely operate.  My siblings, cousins and I have a lot of fun bombarding tin cans and milk jugs.

It's time for... relax!

Here's my littlest brother in a one-person hammock at our grandparents place.  As he spun it around and sat back tucked up inside it, he yelled, "It's time for...RELAX!"

Habit Broken!

In January, (yes, January) I finally quit biting my nails once and for all! I waited 4 months to make this post because I wanted to make sure I wasn't lying to anyone who reads this post.  Anyway, after I stopped, my mom took me to get a manicure, it was so cute, I just had to post these pictures:

I wish you all luck stopping your bad habits, it feels great!

I Fly!

My awesome Uncle M took me to an indoor skydiving/rock-climbing/surfing place in a city near the area we were in over spring break.  Since I've always wanted to skydive, he decided to take me there to do the indoor skydiving activity.  Here are some photos of me getting ready to go into the wind chamber were you float, supported by air!

Videos of me flying are coming, so keep looking!  This was a great experience, thanks Uncle M!

A first, (or second) encounter

At my Grandpa S and Grandma's house, we met up with 2 of my other cousins of the 24 on my dad's side, and they-kind of- introduced my sister and I to ice skating.  (The "kind of" is because my sister had never been, but I had gone with my dad when I was 2 or 3.  Needless to say, I don't remember it.)  I was surprised that I was really pretty good.  I did do a little bit of stumbling around, but in the end I was skating around freely at a good pace, and doing 360's with one foot in the air!  (I don't have any good videos of it, but I'm telling the truth!)  We liked it so much that my sister and I asked our mom to take us back the next day.

     More posts to come!

Fun at Grandma J's

Grandma J was kind enough to schedule an appointment with her hair stylist for me and  my sister, and here's my new "do."  (Sorry, the photo downloaded a little distorted.)
I also went to a roller skating place with my other 2 cousins, both around my age. We didn't skate, but they showed my siblings and I a cool arcade and some of the best obstacle course/bounce houses I have ever seen.  They also took us to a pool. Sadly, I forgot my camera for both of these activities, but they were still lots of fun!
(I also learned that I should never smile with my mouth closed.)

Number 3 at Grandma J's

This is my newest cousin, L.  He was born about three months ago and is a total sweetheart! (I'm holding him in the photo on the bottom.)  Grandma J is on my mom's side of the family, and for a long time I had two cousins, but now, make way for number 3!
PS- For those of you who may be wondering, the baby's shirt in the first two pictures says, "Don't blame me, I was born AWESOME!"  He so was!

Leaving the Heartland

This summer I invited some close friends to a going away party. Whatever for? This summer, I'm moving away from the place that's b...
